Baseball players get All-Area recognition

A number of Barry County area baseball players received special mention from the Joplin Globe this weekend as the newspaper named its 2006 All-Area Baseball team.

No local players were selected for the first or second teams, but 11 players from the area did receive special mention recognition.

These players included: senior Jason Bromley, catcher, Cassville; sophomore Chase Higgs, catcher, Exeter; sophomore Kelby Haynes, pitcher, Cassville; senior Colt Higgs, pitcher, Exeter; junior Corey Moller, pitcher, Purdy; senior Brett Buchanan, first base, Cassville; freshman Mason Roller, first base, Purdy; senior Dustin Moore, shortstop, Purdy; senior Ashton Dorris, outfield, Cassville; senior Spencer Lynch, designated hitter, Cassville; and junior Tim Orrell, utility player, Cassville.

Players selected for the All-Area team were chosen from the tri-state area.
