Gerald Rex Lane, 87, of Monett, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2006, at his home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Winsor to James A. and Amanda L. Igo Lane. He married Margret Romig on May 27, 1950, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 1995.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margret Lane and six brothers, Willard, Herbert, James, George, Thomas and Robert; and one sister, Margaret Merryfield.

He was a retired jeweler; owner of Lane Jewelry Store in Monett and was a former Monett City Councilman. He was in the Army Air Corp. of WWII. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monett. He was also a member of the Hobbs-Anderson Post #91 of the American Legion, the Monett Masonic Lodge, the Barry County Shrine, the Barry County Trikes and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple.

Survivors include: one brother, M.W. Lane, of Garland, Texas, and one sister, Mary Lu Gorrell, of Sedalia.

Funeral services were today (Wednesday) at the First United Methodist Church. Burial was at Oakdale Cemetery of Monett. Masonic Services were held Tuesday at the the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Loaves and Fishes of Monett or the Monett First United Methodist Church Building Fund. Arrangements were under the direction of Bennett- Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.
