Bishop brings home gold

The Cassville Wildcat track squad competed in the Webb City Relays on Monday night. The varsity boys finished in seventh place overall. Other teams competing included Aurora, Carl Junction, Harrisonville, McDonald County, Monett, Nixa, Seneca and Webb City.

Senior Kyle Bishop brought home the Wildcats' only gold medal of the night. He cleared 6'4" in high jump with his nearest competitor, Kittleman, of Nixa, jumping 6'0".

Nick Pianalto earned silver in the discus. The junior threw 146'10" and set a new Cassville High School record in the effort.

Senior Matt Boles finished sixth in the discus. He threw 122'4" to pick up some points for the Wildcats.

Other top finishers for the Wildcat boys were sophomore Ryan Schlichtman, who finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:13.2 and fifth in the mile run with a personal best time of 5:02.4, and junior Nate Evans who placed sixth in the 400-meter run with a time of 55.8.

Several of the Wildcat relay teams also put points on the board. Cassville's 3,200-meter relay finished sixth, the 800-meter relay team finished fourth.

Official results from the girls' race were not available at presstime and will be published in next week's issue of the Cassville Democrat.
