Cleta Marie Stockton, 93, of Raytown, formerly of Shell Knob, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, in Park Place Care Center, Raytown. She had been a resident there for the past 17 months.

She was born July 25, 1912, in Locust Grove, Okla., the daughter of John Henry and Parolee (Cooper) Matthews. On July 19, 1929, in Cassville, she was united in marriage to Olen Lee Stockton, who preceded her in death after 61 years of marriage on Oct. 17, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law, Glen Hedges; one great grandchild and two brothers, Murble and Murvin Matthews.

Survivors include: three sons, Calvin Stockton and his wife, Jewel, of Pueblo, Colo., Dewey Stockton and his wife, Edna, of Shell Knob, Verdayne Stockton and his wife, Laurel, of Shell Knob; two daughters, Erma Hedges, of Independence, and Judy Reed and her husband, Larry, of Kansas City; 18 grandchildren; 43 great grand-children; and 25 great-great grandchildren.

She received her education at Brock School in Shell Knob. She was a resident of Shell Knob for 80 years before moving to Independence, to live with her son-in-law and daughter, Glen and Erma Hedges. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shell Knob.

Funeral services were held Friday in First Baptist Church, Shell Knob, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob.
