Purdy approves speed bumps replacement

The Purdy City Council has agreed to share an estimated $2,500 cost with the Purdy School District to replace the speed bumps on the south and west sides of the school campus. Teddy McIntire, public works superintendent, said snow removal equipment had damaged or removed the existing speed bumps. He saw no need to reinstall the bumps on the east side of the campus, affecting traffic for athletic events. The expense will be split between the city and the school, 50/50...

BarCo board approves over $80,000 in funding

This quarter, the Barry County Tax Board for the Developmentally Disabled approved $81,348 in grant requests from providers. Joplin Regional Office received a grant request for $79,616 in total. According to Terri Yelton, provider relations, a portion of the grant, $26,400 for three individuals plus one additional slot for the community waiver funds, is part of an effort to reduce a waiting list for individuals in Barry County...
