Exeter students show outstanding character
Exeter Elementary School students were recently recognized for displaying exemplary character. Exeter's character word for the month of February was "perseverance." Austin Deffenbaugh and Kelsey Vollenweider have been selected as Eureka Springs Elks Lodge #1042's students of the second quarter. Deffenbaugh, son of Bob and Lisa Deffenbaugh, has been active in soccer, baseball and his church's Good Neighbor Group, which provides assistance to elderly individuals in the local community. Deffenbaugh has earned most valuable soccer player honors and achieved the all-district choir all four years of his high school career. He is also a member of National Honor Society, a four-year honor roll student and has achieved the CHS academic letter four consecutive years. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, reading, playing guitar, hiking and performing community service by offering trash collections, tutoring and winter weather clean-up services. Vollenweider, daughter of Mark and Melissa Vollenweider, has been active in Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), FBLA, art club, softball and basketball. She has earned all-district softball honors and achieved several awards at the Big 8 Art Show. Vollenweider is also a member of National Honor Society, an honor roll student and has earned academic letters and awards during her high school career. Last year, she werved as the junior CHS Tip-Off candidate. Her hobbies include reading, music, art, hiking and volunteering in the Cassville United Methodist Church nursery, food pantry and senior box program. Wil LeCompte has been selected as Eureka Springs Elks Lodge #1042's student of the first quarter. LeCompte, son of Jim and Gayle LeCompte, has been active FBLA, serving as parliamentarian and secretary for his local chapter. He is also serving as the FBLA District 5 parliamentarian and CHS Student Council representative this year. Academically, he is currently ranked second in his class. LeCompte is also a member of Boy Scouts of America and the Boy Scouts Honor Society Order of the Arrow. This year, he completed requirements to earn Eagle Scout status. He is a member of the CHS varsity golf team and has earned two letters in the sport. LeCompte attends the Cassville United Methodist Church. Allison Bradford has been selected as Eureka Springs Elks Lodge #1042's student of the first quarter. Bradford, daughter of Nita Bradford, has been active in National Honor Society, FBLA, cheerleading and band. In 2010, Bradford was chosen as a representative for the Sophomore Pilgrimage. She has served as NHS president and FBLA vice president. She serves as the senior drum major for the Cassville Wildcat Pride Marching Band. Bradford volunteers at St. John's Hospital-Cassville, the First Baptist Church of Cassville nursery and the Barry County OACAC Neighborhood Center.
