Eldon Cole, 81, of Mount Vernon, died on Sunday, April 17, 2022, of heart failure.
He was born Sept. 14, 1940, on the family farm near Potosi to Willard LeClere and Mary Bollinger Cole, the younger brother of sister, Genelle Cole.
In 1958, he enrolled at the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed bachelors and master’s degrees in animal husbandry at MU.
In February 1964, he began a 58-year career with MU Extension.
Aug. 28, 1965, in Columbia, he was married to Charlotte DeEtte Godfrey, of Columbia, and she survives.
In 1968, they moved to Mount Vernon.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Scott and Brian; two daughters, Deanna and Kelly; and seven grandchildren.
To celebrate and honor his life, an informal gathering was held Friday April 22, at the University of Missouri Southwest Research, Extension & Education Center, Mount Vernon.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23, at the Mount Vernon First Presbyterian Church under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
Inurnment will be at the Ozark Prairie Presbyterian “Brick” Church in June.
