Wildcats downed by McDonald County
The Cassville boys basketball team (7-12) fell on Jan. 25 to McDonald County, 75-43. The Wildcats played East Newton on Tuesday, with results not available at presstime. They head to Nevada on Friday, then return home on Feb. 8 and 11 to host Lamar and Monett, respectively.
Trojans on regular-season tear
The Southwest boys basketball team (10-4) is on a 7-game regular season win streak, punctuated last week with a 92-89 double overtime win over Spokane. The Trojans returned to action Tuesday at Purdy, and they return home on Friday to host another conference foe in Galena.
Southwest girls wrap up homestand
The Southwest girls basketball team (4-15) will wrap up a four-game homestand in the next week, hosting Galena on Thursday and Blue Eye on Monday. The Lady Trojans fell at home on Jan. 24 to Billings, 60-52, then on Jan. 27 to Spokane, 61-26.
Exeter boys fall to Golden City, top McAuley
The Exeter boys basketball team (7-12) split games last week on the road, falling to Golden City, 64-39, but defeating McAuley Catholic, 66-55. The Tigers returned home on Monday to host Diamond, and they hit the road Thursday to face School of the Ozarks. The next home game is on Monday against Hurley.
Bulldogs go 2-2 in home swing
The Wheaton boys basketball team (7-11) went 2-2 over a four-game homestand in January. Wheaton fell to Miller, 57-53, but bounced back with a win over Hurley, 66-61. The Bulldogs fought for an overtime wi five days later, topping McAuley Catholic after extra minutes, 69-66. Wheaton fell on Friday to College Heights, 70-54. The Bulldogs hit the road for two upcoming games, Friday at Greenfield and Feb. 8 at Verona.
Wheaton girls end homestand
The Wheaton girls basketball team has wrapped up a January of home games, going 2-4 overall, most recently falling to McAuley Catholic, 38-19, and College Heights, 53-36. The Lady Bulldogs will now be on the road for four straight, which started on Monday at Southwest and continues on Friday at Greenfield.
Eagles hope to stop skid
The Purdy boys basketball team (6-12) is hoping this week to snap a 7-game winless streak. The Eagles most recently fell to Blue Eye, 52-32, and Lockwood, 52-29. Purdy hosted Southwest on Tuesday, with results not available at presstime. The Eagles host Sparta on Thursday.
Purdy girls fall in pair of games
The Purdy girls basketball team (2-14) fell recently to Blue Eye, 78-10, and Lockwood, 50-33. The Lady Eagles play in the Seneca Tournament this week and return home on Monday to host Spokane.
