Call Health Department to schedule appointment

The Barry County Health Department has received a limited quantity of the Pfizer COVID-19 child dose vaccine for administration children ages 5-11.

The child dose is 1/3 of the adult dose and is a two-shot series. Pfizer is currently the only COVID vaccine approved for use in children 5-and-older.

Children can become infected and get very sick from COVID. Those infections may lead to short and long term health complications.

Vaccination for children 5-and-up is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and is currently the best way to prevent these infections.

In addition to protecting your child, vaccination helps by:

• Protecting younger children and other at risk family members

• Protecting your child from serious illness, if they contract COVID

• Helping to keep children in school and other group activities

• Helping to slow the spread of COVID in the community
