Republican Club to meet

The Barry County Republican Club will meet on Sept. 23 at Steak Inn in Shell Knob at 6:30 p.m.

Corsicana Road District meeting scheduled

The Corsicana Special Road District will meet on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the home of Garry Bartkoski, located at 5086 Farm Road 2057 in Monett.

DAR to host meeting

Have you ever wondered if you had an ancestor on the Mayflower? Come to the Daughters of the American Revolution September meeting to find out about the Mayflower Society. The Monett Chapter of DAR will hold its first fall meeting on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Monett. The program features a member of the Mayflower Society. The public is welcome to share our refreshments, information and friendship. ‘New To Medicare Seminar’ at Central Crossing Senior Center 

Join the Medicare specialists on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Central Crossing Senior Center in Shell Knob to learn all about new Medicare benefits. Learn how to apply for benefits and how the Center’s trained specialists can help patrons choose the best plan for their needs. The prescription plans are often confusing, so the specialists’ help is invaluable. To prepare for the numbers attending, the Center would appreciate it if those interested call 417-858-6952 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and inform staff of the intention to come. The Central Crossing Senior Center is located at 20801 YY15 in Shell Knob.

Wii Bowling leagues forming

Central Crossing Senior Center in Shell Knob is the location for another Wii Bowling Season. Leagues will be forming today (Wednesday) at 12:45 p.m. The Center will match participants with a team, or people may bring their own teams and enjoy the fun and camaraderie. The Center also offers Bingo on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 12:30 p.m. It’s free, and the Center has nice prizes. Come early for lunch. While the Center does not have a salad bar out right now, it offers a good choice of salads and fixings from the kitchen. Anyone interested in either of these activities may call the Central Crossing Senior Center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 417-858-6952 or visit www.shellknobseniorsinc.org/monthly-activities.

Bluegrass at Roaring River each Friday

Bluegrass music will be held at Roaring River State Park every Friday through Sept. 24, and on Saturdays through Sept. 25. Bands playing at the shelter include: The Flyin Buzzards, Sugar Mountain Band, The Mayfields, Ozark Mt. Five, No Apparent Reason, Spillwater Drive, Ozark Mt. Revival, Red Bridge Bluegrass, The Bakers & Friends, and the Possum Trot Band. Admission is free and the music goes from 7-9 p.m.

Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. The Market offers fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers and handmade crafts. Visitors are asked to please follow the health guidelines and wear face coverings and practice 6-foot physical distancing while shopping. Old Church Gallery is located on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob and can be reached at 417-858-2510.

Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. For more information, people may call 417-662-3612.
