Joyce Elaine Carman
Joyce Elaine Carman, 72, of Greenville, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Sept, 1, 2021, at her home.
She was born June 22, 1949, in Cassville, the daughter of Tommy and Bertha (Smith) Bowen.
She grew up and received her education in Cassville, graduating from Cassville High School in 1967. In 1968, she moved to Florissant, where she attended Gateway College of Evangelism and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Christian Education. While attending College of Evangelism she also received the Spirit of St. Louis Award. She moved to Greenville, Ill., in 1972, and graduated from Greenville College in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. In 1996 she graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Master of Science in Education. A few years later, she obtained her EdS Degree from the University of Illinois. Her profession was in education.
Survivors include: one son, Bo Carman and his wife Kate of New Harmony, Ind.; three daughters, Sarah Boatman and her husband Frank of Mulberry Grove, Ill., Rebekah Carman of Greenville, Ill., and Elizabeth Krut and her husband Derek of Bloomington, Ill.; four brothers, Pastor Loy Bowen and his wife Lynda of Cassville, Ricky Bowen and Tara of Cassville, Rodney Bowen of Cassville, and Stephen Bowen of Cassville; three sisters, Ann Dalton and her husband Dallard of Chadwick, Janice Morris and her husband Pastor Mark Morris of Republic, and Robin Stockton and her husband Jeff of Cassville; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Clio Cemetery in Jenkins, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Mark Morris conducted the services.
