Barry Electric Annual Meeting set for April 22
The Barry Electric Cooperation’s Annual Meeting has been scheduled for April 22. Registration and voting at the meeting will begin at noon, and the business session will be called to order at 1 p.m. Early registration and voting will run starting April 15 at the Barry Electric office, during regular business hours, and through April 22 at 10 a.m. Members who voted early will not be allowed to vote again at the Annual Meeting. Candidates on the ballot include:

• District 3 Candidates: Richard Asbill and Aubrey Wolf
Corsicana Special Road District to meet
The Corsicana Special Road District will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the home of Garry Bartkoski, located at 5086 Farm Road 2057.
Waste Management District N to meet
The Southwest Missouri Waste Management District N will hold its monthly Executive Board Meeting at 11:50 a.m. on Tuesday at Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett. This meeting is open to the public. A teleconference number will also be available for this meeting. Hwy. 248 Bridge over Flat Creek closed in daytime for bridge repair
Missouri Route 248 bridge over Flat Creek in Barry County south of Jenkins will close from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5-22. Crews working to replace bridge joints, meaning all Route 248 lanes will be closed at either end of the bridge during daytime hours. All lanes will open at night and on weekends. Signs and message boards will alert drivers approaching work zone. Drivers will have access to entrances at either end of the work zone, but will not be able to travel across the bridge. There will be no signed detour. Drivers should find alternate route. Weather and/or scheduling conflicts could alter the work schedule.
Cassville announces W.I.L.D. summer school
The Cassville school district will host the W.I.L.D. (Wonders, Innovation, Learning, Discovery) summer school this year from June 1-30 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The school features weekly discovery opportunities, weekly Aquatic Park trips (June 4, 11, 18 and 25), field trips and field day activities, all at no cost. There is also a YMCA Safety Around Water program for first-graders June 14-17 and 21-24, and there will be a science fair on June 29. Free breakfast and lunch will be served daily. Seated class offerings will allow eighth-graders to begin working on high school courses, and virtual high school classes are available at the high school. Bus routes are also available. Cassville screenings upcoming
Cassville offers two types of kindergarten classes for kindergarten age-eligible students. Kinder Academy, as well as traditional kindergarten, are available to students who will be 5 years old by July 31. Kinder Academy is a two-year kindergarten program available for select students who may have not had exposure to school social skills (preschool experience, developmental readiness, motor skills, etc.), who would benefit from a smaller class size (no more than 15 students) or who have late birthdays (typically March-July). Screening results, parental recommendations, preschool teacher recommendations, and Parent As Teachers parent educator observations will be used to potentially fill student spots. Cassville will be screening all kindergarten age-eligible students on April 19 and April 21 from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cassville. Enter through the South Entrance door across from Dr. Dale Assing’s office. Please call the Primary office at 417-847-2445 to schedule an appointment. Parents or guardians will need to bring the following items with on the day of screening: Child’s birth certificate, child’s shot records, proof of residency and parent or guardian’s driver’s license. Preschool screening for 3- and 4-year-old children in the Cassville school district is scheduled for April 20 and April 22. Parents of 3- and 4-year-old children may also call the primary office to schedule an appointment. The screening will take place at the First Baptist Church in Cassville. The BRIGANCE Early Childhood Screens III test will screen children in the following areas: physical development, language development, academic skills/cognitive development, and self-help and social-emotional skills. The screening will take at least half an hour to complete. Children who are currently enrolled in the Cassville preschool or who will be eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year do not need to participate in the screening.
SKITS spring play ‘Farce of Nature’ set for April
The SKITS board of directors has announced the spring play “Farce of Nature” will have a three-night presentation, scheduled for April 23-25. The play was originally set to run in 2020, but due to coronavirus and ensuing complications, the play was postponed. The SKITS directors have indicated that social distancing will be observed during the performances and precautions will be taken to ensure that proper sanitation guidelines will be followed to protect the audience during the performances. At this point, it is anticipated that attendance for each show will be approximately half of normal capacity due to the implementation of social distancing. The SKITS theater group is looking forward to performing “Farce of Nature” for all attending patrons.
Wheaton school screenings scheduled
Screening for children entering Preschool for the 2021-2022 school year in the Wheaton school district is scheduled for April 20-22 in the Kindergarten rooms of the Elementary Building. Any child who will be 3 by July 31 and is planning on enrolling in preschool must be screened before starting school. Parents or guardians must call and schedule an appointment for 3:30 p.m., 4:15 p.m. or 5 p.m. If the child is not already enrolled in the preschool program, please bring current immunization records, birth certificate, Social Security card and proof of residency. Be prepared to fill out the preschool enrollment packet at this time. To schedule an appointment, please call the school at 417-652-7240, ext. 2101 for an appointment. Screening for children entering Kindergarten at Wheaton is scheduled for April 13-14 in the Kindergarten rooms of the Elementary Building. All students entering kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year must be screened before they can be enrolled. Parents of children who will be 5 years of age on or before July 31 may call 417-652-7240, ext. 2101 to schedule an appointment. Appointment times are 3:30 p.m., 4:15 p.m. or 5 p.m. The DIAL III test will be used to screen children in the following areas: concepts, language, and motor development. In addition to the DIAL III, each child’s vision, hearing, and articulation will be screened. The screening will take at least one hour to complete. Please bring the child’s legal birth certificate, Social Security card, immunization record, and proof of residency. Screening results will be shared with the parents at this time.
Seligman dances continue
