New public information, education trooper assigned
18-year Patrol veteran takes over job from Lueckenhoff
An 18-year veteran of the Missouri State Highway Patrol is now the public information and education officer for the western district of Troop D.
Samuel Carpenter, who began his PIO career with the department in Springfield in July 2019, started his career with the patrol in Newton and McDonald counties.
“I do still patrol on occasion,” he said. “But my primary duty is to educate and promote highway and waterway safety.”
He and his family reside in the Joplin area.
During his off-duty hours, Carpenter likes spending time on the water.
Carpenter said his primary goal is public awareness.
“Just be safe and courteous drivers who look out for other motorists on the roadways,” he said. “We should all be doing our part in trying to bring the yearly highway fatality number down to zero.”
Carpenter replaces Barry County resident Sgt. John H. Lueckenhoff, who retired earlier this year.
Carpenter is available to speak to classes, civic groups and at other public events. For more information, call 417-359-1500 ext. 4560.
