Wheaton receives district seeds
Boys No. 4, girls No. 3 in upcoming tournament
The Wheaton boys and girls basketball teams will each host a district tournament contest this year, as Class 2, District 12 seeds were released this week.
The Bulldogs earned a No. 2 seed and bye into the semifinals. Verona is the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Jasper at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. No. 3 College Heights Christian will host No. 6 Greenfield, also at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The semifinal contests will both be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, with the Verona-Jasper winner hitting the road to face No. 1 Liberal, and the College Heights-Greenfield winner playing at Wheaton.
The boys championship game is set for Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m. and will be hosted by whichever team has the better seed.
For the girls, No. 4 Wheaton will host No. 5 Jasper, and No. 3 Verona will host No. 6 Liberal, with both games at 6 p.m. on Monday.
The Verona-Liberal winner will head to No. 2 Greenfield on Wednesday at 6 p.m., and the Wheaton-Jasper winner will hit the road to face No. 1 College Heights at the same time.
The girls’ championship game will be on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m., also hosted by whichever team has the best seed.
