Dr. David Vernon Honeycutt
Dr. David Vernon Honeycutt, 82, of Monett, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield.
On June 19, 1965, David and Lou Ellen McKechnie were united in marriage; she survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Brad Honeycutt and wife Jennifer of Greenville, Wis., and Rustin Honeycutt and wife Joy of Hewitt, Texas; one daughter, Diane Inman of Monett; and seven grandchildren.
He was born June 28, 1938, in Sharp County, Ark., one of 13 children born to Nathaniel Edward and Opal Lois (Whitman) Honeycutt.
He attended high school in Maynard, Ark., followed by college at Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn. He was drafted into the Army in 1962, serving two years in the Dental Corps at Fort Dix, N.J. He completed his undergraduate work at Missouri State University and attended UMKC School of Dentistry from 1967-1971. He served as staff dentist at St. Vincentís and Cox Monett Hospital.
He was an active member of the community, serving on the Chamber of Commerce, Monett R-1 Board of Education (past President), Monett Industrial Development Corp. (Secretary for 25 years) and Monett Kiwanis Board and Treasurer for 30 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #91 and the Monett Sportsmanís League and past member of the Monett Jayceeís.
David was an active member of the Church of Christ wherever he lived. He was presently a part of the Monett Church of Christ and had also been a part of the Cassville Church of Christ.
Private family services are planned with a Celebration of Life Service to be announced at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
