Peggy Dean Edie, 76, of Exeter, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Cassville.

She was born March 11, 1944, in Washburn, the daughter of Leon and Mary Ruth (Prewitt) Stephens. On Sept. 1, 1962, in Exeter she was united in marriage to Doyle Edie, and he survives.

Additional survivors include: son, Robert Edie and his wife Angie of Cassville; one daughter, Melissa Garrison and her husband Shawn of Exeter; one brother, Eddie Stephens and his wife Debbie of Carthage; one sister, Nita Bradford of Cassville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three brothers, Leon in infancy, Donnie and James.

She grew up and received her education at Washburn and graduated from Southwest High School. After she and Doyle married they made their home in Exeter. She worked at Jumping Jacks and later at Justin Boot, retiring as lead lady in the packing department. She was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church in Exeter. While she and Doyle worked for First Baptist Church in Cassville, she received the title as “The Cookie Maker.”

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 15, at Exeter First Baptist Church under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Jerry Yarnall conducted the services. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter.
