Christmas Train Ride set for Dec. 19

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce and A&M Railroad, along with For The Kids Parent Organization, are again planning a Christmas Train Ride from Seligman to Avoca, Ark. The ride will be on Dec. 19 at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. A second ride is planned for Dec. 20, with pick-up at the Monett soccer fields, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Santa will be present to hand out a bag of treats to children 12 and under. Free hot chocolate and cookies will also be handed out. The cost is $20 per ride for adults, $15 for children 4-12 and $5 for children 2-3. Children 1 and under may ride free. There is an extra charge for the upper dome. People may call 417-725-4017 to make reservations. All money raised from the rides will be donated to For The Kids, which covers Barry, Lawrence and Stone counties. Church to deliver Thanksgiving meals

On Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 26), volunteers of First Baptist Church Cassville will deliver hot meals to homebound individuals. Anyone who is homebound or would like to submit the name of a homebound individual to receive a Thanksgiving meal should call the First Baptist Church office at 417-847-2965 by Friday to have a meal delivered.

Cassville High School to continue blended learning

Cassville High School students will remain on the blended learning schedule through the remainder of the first semester, which ends on Dec. 22. In addition, the following schedule changes for high school students will occur: Nov. 23 will be a Black in-person attendance day (not a virtual day), and Nov. 24 will be a Gold in-person attendance day (like normal).

County’s tax statements mailed

Barry County Collector Skyler Bowman has announced that the 2020 Tax Statements have been mailed to Barry County taxpayers. People that did not receive their statements by Nov. 15 should call the Collector’s Office at 417-847-2113 to inquire about them. The 2020 taxes become delinquent on Jan. 1, 2021. Payment can be made in person at the collector’s office with cash, check, debit or credit card. When paying with a debit or credit card, the provider of this service will be charging a fee. Also, payment can be made online at, and a fee will be applied when paying in this manner.

Seligman dances continue

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center will continue every Saturday at 7 p.m. Everyone is also asked to bring a snack to share. For more information, people may call 417-662-3612.
