Cassville runners compete at state

Area runners finish strong as season ends

Action was fast and furious last week in Columbia as the best cross-country runners in the state descended on the town to decide who was best.

In Class 3, Cassville sent its boys team. Pace Evans, finished 37th in 17:34.9; Caleb Leach was 125th in 19:26.8; Ethan Bohmke took 139th in 19:58.1; Jacob Martinez was 140th in 19:59.2; Charles Elliot finished 157th in 21:20.4; and Donald Pettyjohn was 161st in 24:15.4.

Fatima won the team event with 98 points. Cassville totaled 372 and took 16th.

In the girls’ Class 3 action, Cassville’s Jordyn Stafford finished 37th in 21:38.8, with Annie Moore right behind her in 38th place with a time of 21:40.2. Jolie Evans was 69th in 22:17.8.

Class 2

In the girls Class 2 race, Southwest’s Cally Bowyer finished 124th in 25:58.0.

On the boys’ side, the Trojans’ Christian long finished 27th in 17:31.1; Otis Rainer took 74th in 18:40.9, and Lucas Lakey was 146th in 20:25.6.

Purdy’s Bryce Ozbun finished 141st in 20:08.7.

For Monett in Class 4, Julio Cruz finished 72nd in 17:54.0 and Jose Esquivel was 100th overall with a time of 18:31.7.
