Janiece Lawson, 88, of Exeter, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2020, at her home.
She was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Mountain View, Okla., the daughter of Carl and Agnes (Charles) Taggart. On Oct. 18, 1987, she was united in marriage to R.H. Buck Lawson in Eureka Springs, Ark., who preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 2010. Also preceding her in death were her parents; three sons, Ricky, David and Gary Strickland; and one brother, Gene Taggart.
Survivors include: one son, Kent Strickland and his wife Denise of Seneca; a sister, Nadine Whitley of Sulfur Springs, Okla.; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.
She received her education in Carnegie, Okla., and was a 1949 high school graduate. For several years, she was an office manager for Schmidt Construction in Miami, Okla. In high school she was the state’s leading scorer in basketball in 1948-1949. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cassville.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday Oct. 5, at Taggart Royal Oak Cemetery west of Butterfield, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor James Weaver will conduct the services.
