Freddy Joe Gurwell
Freddy Joe Gurwell, 73, of Cassville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at his home.
He was born Nov. 26, 1946, in Wichita, Kan., son of Gene and Margaret Gurwell.
He grew up and completed his education in Chanute, Kan. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy, where he served for the next four years. Following his service, he moved back home, where he worked as a custom cabinetmaker. In the following years, he worked as a motorcycle mechanic until he gained his master plumber certification and worked throughout NW Arkansas and Southern Missouri. Following his plumbing career, he worked for Tyson’s Chick-N-Quick for more than 25 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Cassville.
Survivors include: his mother, Margaret Frieholtz of Rogers, Ark.; his fiancé, Dianna Dyer of Cassville; his son, Freddy Eugene Gurwell of Edgewater, Md.; his daughters, Amy Louise Johnson of Arcola, Ill., and Barbie Jo Gurwell of Rogers, Ark.; son, George Gurwell; one brother, Mark Gurwell of Rogers, Ark.; three sisters, Debra Struble of Chesapeake, Va., Gail Callison and her husband Jim of Garfield, Ark., and Yvonne Frieholtz of Rogers, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Preceding him in death were his father; one brother, Gary Gurwell, and one granddaughter.
Services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
