‘Cats cruise past Logan-Rogersville
Cassville puts up 43 unanswered points in road win
The Cassville football team came out firing Friday and never looked back, cruising behind a clinical offensive display for a 43-6 victory.
After deferring the kick, Cassville won possession quickly with a Brett Cooper interception only a few plays in.
With Hayden Sink returning to quarterback and Zach Coenen returning to the backfield, the Cassville offense was humming. Runs from Coenen and Jericho Farris and a catch from Cooper moved the Wildcats 76 yards. Sink then push his line 2 more yards to open the scoring.
On the second possession after a punt, Farris found paydirt by breaking two tackles and going 15 yards for the score.
Logan-Rogersville’s offense wasn’t again kept at bay, but a solid punt pinned the Wildcats at the 1. After maneuvering out of danger, Cassville marched to the opposite 44, where Farris took a handoff, broke a tackle, hurdled a defender, then found the edge and broke another tackle to find the end zone for a 20-0 lead.
Another punt gave good field position, allowing Drake Reese to snag a swing pass and blow by his man for a 49-yard score.
Hernan Hernandez then picked a pass, but the Wildcats fumbled it back. Then, Cooper pulled in a second pick, setting up Reese for a 21-yard field goal and 30-0 lead at the break.
The Wildcats almost lost the next kickoff on a fumble, but they recovered and marched down the field to put Coenen into the end zone from 14, activating the turbo clock.
From there, Cassville put in the backups. After punting once, the Wildcats got the ball back and Trey Wilson took a handoff up middle and cut hard left to find the sideline and a score from 36 yards out.
Logan-Rogersville punched in an 11-yard touchdown as time expired for the final scoreline.
Cassville returns home on Friday to host Lamar. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
