Jenkins Fish Fry going drive-thru

Due to the social distancing and the COVID-19 regulations, the Jenkins Fire Department will have a Drive Thru Fish Fry this year on Oct. 3. The menu will remain the same. More details will be released closer to the day of the event.

Republican Club to meet

The Barry County Republican Club will hold it’s monthly meeting on Sept. 24 at the Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett at 6:30 p.m.

Voting registration deadline Oct. 7

The last day to register to vote is Oct. 7 for those who are not current registered voters of Barry County and who wish to vote in the Nov. 3 General Election. People may register to vote at the County Clerk’s Office; the Monett Chamber of Commerce; or the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce. Please notify the clerk’s office of a change of address or a name change. Absentee voting starts Sept. 22 at the Barry County Clerk’s Office in Cassville, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If unable to vote in person, a person may send a written request to the office of: Jill H. LeCompte, 700 Main St. Suite 2, Cassville, MO 65625, or fax to 417-847-5311. The office will need: name, physical address, mailing address, date of birth, last four digits of Social Security number, phone number, reason for voting absentee and signature. Those who live in the Shell Knob or Monett area may go to the Shell Knob Chamber or Monett Chamber Office and fill out the absentee application. They will fax it to the Barry County Clerk’s office. Absentee applications are also available at sos.mo.gov. Plaza Pharmacy to hold flu clinic for seniors

Join the Central Crossing Senior Center on Sept. 23, when the Plaza Pharmacy will give flu shots at the Center in the Arvest Room from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All those wanting the shot are asked to park by the Mercy Clinic end of the building and use the Melba’s Garden Door. As is their custom, the owners of Plaza Pharmacy, Cong and Hoang, are providing a free meal to seniors again this year. Unlike other years, people wanting the meal will have to pick it up by driving up to the front door. This month’s special meal will be spaghetti and meatballs. Because of COVID-19, people may not come into the dining room to pick up meals. The pick-up meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. While the Center is currently closed due to COVID-19, the director, Terri, is available by phone daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 417-858-6952. The Center’s website, www.shellknobseniorsinc.org, is available 24/7 for general information and special announcements. 

Seligman Chamber planning Fall Fest

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce is planning a Fall Fest for Oct. 3 at the Seligman Chamber Event Center on Highway 37 just north of the city. There will be a craft show, auction, swap meet, business booths, bake sale, music and dancing. Outdoor booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the auction will be held at 1 p.m. Music and dancing will go from 2-10 p.m. inside with live bands. Booth rental is $20 for each 12-foot-by12-foot space, $20 for a car corral and $20 for a swap meet space. The Chamber will be selling hamburgers and cheeseburgers with chips and a drink for $5, as wall as nachos. The Chamber is taking donations for auction items. Chamber staff will pick up items, or they can be delivered to the event Center. Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market operating weekly

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market, located on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob, runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. Fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers and handmade crafts are available. The Market is asking visitors to please follow the health guidelines and wear face coverings and practice six-foot physical distancing while shopping. Seligman dances continue

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center will continue every Saturday at 7 p.m. Everyone is also asked to bring a snack to share. For more information, people may call 417-662-3612.
