Veterans Taskforce of America to meet

The Veterans Taskforce of America, Inc. will meet at the Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett on Aug. 2 at 4 p.m. All honorably discharged men, women, wartime or peacetime are welcomed.

Central Crossing plans special lunch

Although the Central Crossing Senior Center is not open due to COVID-19, the lunch program is going strong. In June, the center passed out 2,100 frozen meals by drive-up delivery. On July 2, the center provided hot dogs and brats in celebration of Independence Day. That day was a huge success, so another lunch special is being planned for Aug. 7. The meal will be announced next week. Frozen meals are served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For information on the center and usual activities, people may call 417-858-6952 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Barry County Democrats meeting set

The Barry County Democrats will meet on Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. The monthly meeting will be at the Golden Community Center in Golden, located at 28686 Hwy. J. Also, the group wants to remind everyone to vote on Aug. 4. For questions, people may contact Maella Blalock at 231-343-2727.

Absentee voting ongoing

Absentee voting continues for the Aug. 4 Primary Election through Monday, Aug. 3 at the Barry County Clerk’s Office in Cassville from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If unable to vote absentee in person, voters may request an absentee ballot to be mailed. People may pick up an absentee ballot request form at the Monett Chamber of Commerce, or send a written request to the office of: Jill H. LeCompte, Barry County Clerk, 700 Main St. Suite 2, Cassville, MO 65625 or by fax at 417-847-5311. If requesting an absentee ballot by mail, the Office will need: Date of election, name of voter, physical address, mailing address, date of birth, last four (4) digits of Social Security number, phone number, reason for voting absentee (absent from voting location on election day or physical disability), party preference and signature. People may also print an absentee application from sos.mo.gov and mail it to the Clerk’s Office. The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed is July 22 for the Aug. 4 Primary Election. Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open weekly

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market, located on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob, runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. Fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers and handmade crafts are available The Market is asking visitors to please follow the health guidelines and wear face coverings and practice six-foot physical distancing while shopping. 5K to be held at TroutFest

The Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce and city of Cassville will host a 5K Trout Trot & Minnow Mile in conjunction with TroutFest on Aug. 15. Pre-registration is available through July 18 to guarantee runners a T-shirt. Pre-registration for the Trout Trot is $15 per runner, and pre-registration price for the Minnow Mile is $10 per runner. “We are excited to have TroutFest this year and are excited to begin the day with a 5K and Mile run.” said Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce director Rachael Freeman. “This race is sponsored by Freedom Bank and we are thankful for their support.” Those looking to register for the event can do so by visiting www.cassville.com.

Seligman dances back on

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center will continue every Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Seligman Community Event Center. Potluck is also back, so everyone is asked to bring a snack to share. For more information, people may call 417-662-3612.
