Dr. James Clark “J.C.” “Doc” Flanary
Dr. James Clark “J.C.” “Doc” Flanary, age 78, of Cassville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020, at his home.
He was born December 27, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John Christopher and Mary Ann (Taylor) Flanary. On August 28, 1971, in Merriam, Kansas, he was united in marriage to Smith Ann Coolbaugh who preceded him in death on July 31, 2013. Also preceding him in death were his parents and one brother.
Surviving are one son, James Clark “Jay” Flanary, Jr. and his wife Tommi of Ocoee, Florida; two sisters, Christie Coffer of Platte City, Missouri, and Peggy Pepper of Blanco, Texas, and two grandchildren, Matthew and Sebastian.
Doc graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1960. He then received a degree in Nuclear Physics with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. During the Vietnam War he served in the United States Air Force. After his service he attended the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri where he received his Doctorate Degree. He served his residency in Flint, Michigan and practiced in Farmington, Missouri before starting his Cassville practice in 1985. After closing his practice in Cassville he worked at the VA Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, until his retirement.
While at MU he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Doc was a distinguished patron of Cassville Golf Club.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
