Purdy High School students waved their arms to the initials of "YMCA" as the 1978 Village People song played during the school prom at El Aragon on Stones Prairie on Friday night.

The girls showed the boys how a line dance is done dancing to "Footloose" at the Purdy prom on Friday. According to teacher Lauren Lee, the students are aware of the dancing legacy of Purdy High School reflected in the story of "Footloose," but not the details, and by now, it's "morphing into myth."
