Wildcat seniors to walk
Pair of graduations events scheduled in Cassville
While COVID-19 (coronavirus) has wreaked havoc on the fourth quarter of the school year and ruined annual events like prom and graduation, the Cassville school district has come up with a plan to still honor its seniors who were set to walk in May.
Two graduation events are now planned, one virtual and one in person.
On May 17 at 3 p.m., the district will host a virtual graduation, uploaded to Facebook and YouTube. The event will include an introduction, a collage of seniors’ class and baby photos, a presentation for those achieving cum laude, valedictorian and salutatorian addresses, a presentation of graduates and closing comments.
School officials hope people can come together at home as much as possible to watch the event, and they hope to broadcast the event on the radio, as well.
Down the road, on July 3 at 7 p.m., the district plans to host a graduation event at Wildcat Stadium. The event will have admission by ticket for senior students and a limited number of family members. It may be opened up if allowed at that time by local and state health officials.
In the afternoon, seniors will be afforded a scheduled cap, gown, and diploma, picture time. At 7 p.m., graduates will be on the track and family with tickets may be in the home stands. Officials also hope to broadcast this event on the radio.
