YMCA facilities close through March
Cassville Y to offer free wifi in parking lot
YMCA facilities in the Ozarks have opted to close their doors amid concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus).
Rick Ragsdale, director of the Cassville YMCA, said the target date to reopen is March 31.
“We are just trying to let everything settle,” he said. “We will deep clean the facility and complete some other projects in our down time.”
Spring sports at the YMCA have been delayed to mid-April, and practices for those sports are delayed until school is back in session, which is tentatively April 6.
Ragsdale said the facility is still offering some services. He plans to move the wifi router to a window facing the parking lot to give free wifi to anyone who needs it. The Y is also offering Y360 workout videos on their website at https://www.orymca.org/workout-from-home.
During the closure, people can expect regular updates from the YMCA via email, its website (www.orymca.org/covid-19) and its social media channels.
“We will continue to work with the health department and local physicians to determine what other actions, if any, would be prudent on our part and when it will be safe to reopen our facilities,” an Ozarks Regional YMCA press release said. “Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this evolving and challenging situation. We look forward to returning to business as usual as soon as possible.”
