Vehicle runs through telephone pole, overturns

A 17-year-old Wheaton resident was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, pending lab results, following a wreck on Main Street Tuesday morning.

According to the Cassville Police Department, Matthew Paul Oldnettle, 17, of Wheaton, was driving a 2001 Ford Escape southbound on Business 37 when his vehicle crossed the center line and traveled off the left side of the roadway.

The vehicle struck a telephone pole, then struck a parked car in the parking lot of the Clark Center building at 1701 Townsend St. before coming to rest on its top in the lot.

Oldnettle suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.
