Belva (Whisman) Pozek

Belva (Whisman) Pozek, 96, of Shell Knob, passed away on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Brighton Ridge in Eureka Springs, Ark.

She was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Shell Knob, the daughter of Millard and Maudie (James) Whisman. On Aug. 15, 1961, she was united in marriage to Rudy Pozek, who preceded her in death Oct. 25, 2009.

She attended Shell Knob Elementary School and graduated from Cassville High School in 1942. Upon graduation, she moved to Kansas City and worked for Montgomery Ward and later Sears, where she retired in 1986 after 40 years.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sharon Whisman, of Shell Knob.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, H.F. Whisman, Kenneth Whisman, Carl Whisman, M.F. “Junior” Whisman and Charles “Chock” Whisman; and three sisters, Wanda Bradshaw, Vera Simmons, and Willa Dean Swofford.

Funeral services were held Jan. 15 at White Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial was at Painter Cemetery in Shell Knob.
