Ella Mae Burns

Ella Mae Burns, 94, of Seligman, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at her home.

She was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Seligman, the daughter of George Washington and Sarah Francis Louisa (Gann) Crabaugh. On Dec. 9, 1944, in Bentonville, Ark., she was united in marriage to James Edward Burns, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1961. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Jean Sparks; one brother, Clay; a sister, Winnie Faye and two sons-in-law, Gordan Denney and Maynard Hutchens.

Survivors include: two sons, Howard Burns and his wife Jackie of Exeter, and Edward Burns and his wife Donna of Seligman; three daughters, Donna Hutchens of Cassville; Pat Denney of Washburn, and Mary Gabbard and her husband Sherman of Seligman; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

She grew up and received her education in Seligman, where she graduated from high school in 1943. For several years, she worked for Justin Boot and Clorox Company from which she retired. She was a charter member of Seligman Assembly of God Church, where she served as song leader, secretary and treasurer for decades.

Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Rev. Darlene Robison conducted the services. Burial was at Seligman Cemetery.
