Festivities culminate in crownings Friday, dance Saturday

Purdy High School celebrates Homecoming this week with special activities and a basketball contest Friday against the Sparta Trojans.

This year’s theme is “Kick Your Boots Off and Stay Awhile.” Special themed activities during the week include Camo Day, Pajama Day and Country/Western Day. Homecoming Week will conclude on Saturday with a semi-formal Homecoming Dance at 7 p.m., hosted by the Purdy High School Student Council.

Each class has selected a boy and a girl to represent them in the Homecoming court. Participating will be freshmen Anna Hoffman and Destry Patton, sophomores M’Kena Propps and Matthew Cornelius, juniors Lauren Schallert and Zack Brewer, and seniors Kylie Wood and Harley Stephens.

The junior varsity basketball contest will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the coronation and the varsity contest. There will be no Athletic Hall of Fame installation this year.

Following tradition in Purdy, the 2020 Mister will be crowned at a special Homecoming assembly, hosted by the cheerleaders, at 2 p.m. Friday. Coronation of the queen will take place at the game.
