Toddler dies after being injured in wreck
3-year-oldís organs being donated, family raising funds for expenses
A 3-year-old Seligman boy has died as a result of injuries sustained Sunday in a wreck at 12:20 p.m. on Highway 37 at Farm Road 1050, two miles south of Washburn.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Johnny Eggleston, 39, of Seligman, was driving a 2006 Honda van northbound and was stopped in traffic when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2014 GMC pickup, being driven by Jorge Habet, 40, of Seymour.
Dylan Eggleston, 3, a passenger in Egglestonís vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead by Dr. Kyle Lemley at 10:27 p.m. on Monday.
Two passengers in Habetís vehicle, Patricia Thompson, 33, and a 12-year-old female, both of Rogersville, each suffered minor injuries. Both were transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville.
The Honda was totaled, and the GMC sustained moderate injuries. All involved were wearing safety devices.
This is the 111th fatality of the year for Troop D of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
