Annual Herrin Toy Drive scheduled

Herrin Animal Hospital in Cassville will host its annual Toy Drive and Open House from noon to 2 p.m. on Dec. 6. Food will be available, and visitors may tour the American Animal Hospital Association-accredited hospital. Visitors should bring an unwrapped toy for the 20th annual drive. People may RSVP by calling 417-847-5888.

Good Shepherd Hospice hosting drive for veterans

Good Shepherd Hospice, based in Springfield, is hosting a drive for warm hats (beanies, stocking caps, watch caps), gloves, mittens and scarves to be given to homeless veterans in Missouri. Donations may be made at the Cassville Area Chamber of Commerce. People who donate should include a note of appreciation with the donation. Adult donations of any color will be accepted. Central Crossing schedules 16th Annual Lighting of Star and Tree

The Central Crossing Senior Center will host its 16th Annual Lighting of the Star and Tree on Dec. 6. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the lighting is at 5:30 p.m. The Shell Knob School Choir will perform; there will be a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus; there will be stockings with goodies for children; and soup, chili and cookies will be served.

Barry County Democrats hosting special event

The Barry County Democrats are hosting a special event with candidate for attorney general, Elad Gross. The December meeting will be on Dec. 2 at Angus Branch Steakhouse in Monett. Socializing starting at 6 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
