15-year-old girl injured in ATV wreck

Vehicle goes off roadway, hits fence

A Washburn girl was injured Thursday in a wreck at 4 p.m. on Miles Mountain Road, 6.5 miles west of Washburn.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 15-year-old girl, of Washburn, was driving a 2007 Honda TRX ATV southbound when her vehicle lost control on a gravel roadway, went off the roadway and struck a fence, ejecting the driver.

The child suffered serious injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

She was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle sustained minor damage.
