Charles Robert “Chalk” Whisman
Charles Robert “Chalk” Whisman, 81, of Shell Knob, was born May 28, 1938, the son of Millard and Maudie (James) Whisman, in Shell Knob.
He attended the Shell Knob Elementary School and graduated from Cassville High School Class of 1956. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He attended the Shell Knob Church of Christ. He worked for Empire Gas Co. He was a charter member of the Shell Knob Lions Club, a commissioner for the Shell Knob Road District, served on the Shell Knob School Board, and had driven a school bus for the district for 29 years.
He was united in marriage to Sharon Sue Warren in 1969, and she survives.
Additional survivors include: two sons, Jamie Whisman and his wife Jami Marie, of Shell Knob, and Justin Whisman, of Springfield; one sister, Belva Pozak, of Eureka Springs, Ark.; and five grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Wanda Bradshaw, Vera Simmons, and Willa Swofford; and four brothers, H.F. Whisman, Kenneth Whisman, Carl Whisman and M.F. “Junior” Whisman.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 13 at White Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial with full military honors was at the Painter Cemetery, Shell Knob.
