Celebration set for Barry County Century Farm Family

Wednesday, September 4, 2019

Maintaining a farming operation in the family for one century or more through the good times and hard times is something to celebrate, and this year, the Barry county Extension is celebrating not one, but four families.

Century Farm Families for 2019 include:

• Rosella Renkoski, of Purdy, who has achieved the accomplishment of having a Century Farm, which is 180 acres purchased in 1910 that originally raised cows, hogs, and chickens.

• Rose Mills, of Purdy, also has reason to celebrate with a Century Farm of 50 acres which was purchased in 1917 and operated as Dairy farm in year’s past.

• Patricia Moloski, of Pierce City, has also achieved the accomplishment of having a Century Farm, operating a 40-acre farm purchased in 1896 with original purpose of being a general farm that produced many different goods throughout the years.

• Barbara Foster, of Monett, whose 160-acre farm was first established in 1901. The farm originally raised sheep, hogs, cattle, and chickens.

The community is encouraged to join the University of Missouri-Extension of Barry County’s Century Farm Celebration potluck picnic on Thursday at 6 p.m. to honor the Renkoski, Mills, Moloski, and Foster families. The picnic will take place at Mill Street Church, located at 1104 Mill Street in Cassville.

All are welcome to attend. Please RSVP for the celebration by calling the MU Extension office of Barry County at 417-847-3161.
