Wheaton High graduate awarded $6,000 scholarship
Sean Lowry, a 2018 graduate of Wheaton High School, has been selected to continue receiving the Henry J. and Lucille J. Straus Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks.
This will be his second year receiving the scholarship, totaling $12,000 in financial assistance for his education.
Lowry, the son of Mary and the late John Lowry, is attending Drury University, where he is pursuing a degree in computer science with a minor in music.
“I think more high school students in this area should be aware of the CFO because local scholarships are the best way to pay for college,” Lowry said. “I am very thankful for them.”
The Henry J. and Lucille J. Straus Scholarship Fund was established the Straus family in 1998 to support students attending private universities. It is the largest scholarship administered by the CFO, awarding $6,000 on a renewable basis to more than a dozen students each year.
The CFO is a regional public charitable foundation with total assets of nearly $294 million as of June 30, 2019. The CFO works to advance philanthropy through a network of private donors, 49 affiliate foundations and nearly 600 nonprofit partners throughout its service region south of the Missouri River.
