“I am super pumped,” she said. “So far, it has been good. Janice is a great teacher, and she is at my disposal for any questions I have now or later.

“I’m very excited because I enjoy Barry County, and I look forward to serving the people of Barry County in this position.”

Bowman said she hopes her past experience will help in her new post.

“This was brought to my attention, and I thought it was a great opportunity,” she said. “I think my knowledge in banking will help me.”

Bowman said she sent in her application for collector, and a staff member from Parson’s office offered her the job on July 8.

Kelli Jones, deputy communications director/press secretary, said Bowman was one of two candidates who applied for the job.

"Ms. Bowman was selected because she was the strongest and more impressive candidate," Jones said. "Her private-sector experience was relevant to the office she was seeking. Also, she has great passion for the Barry County community."
