Autism walk/run to be held at Exeter Corn Maze

The Exeter Corn Maze will host the Around the Patch Walk/Run for Autism on Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. Cost is $20 for adults and $15 for ages 18-and-under. The event will traverse slight hills on a dirt path around the pumpkin patch, with some rocks. All proceeds benefit the Barry-Lawrence County Development Center. The top three runners will receive a trophy following the race. To receive a race day T-shirt, people must register by Aug. 25. Cassville class of 2014 records to be purged

Cassville High School will be purging the cumulative school records for the graduating class of 2014. Those who would like to have their records must pick them up in person at the high school between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in July or between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. in August. Anyone unable to pick them up in person but would like someone else do it must provide a signed request before records can be released.

Roaring River State Park hosts Movie under the Stars July 13

Roaring River State Park invites the public to come out and enjoy some family friendly entertainment with Movie Night Under the Stars. The fun begins at 9 p.m. on July 13 with a showing of “Smallfoot.” The movie series is sponsored by the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library as part of the summer library program. The event is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring a lawn chair. Roaring River State Park is located seven miles south of Cassville on Highway 112 in Barry County, in southwest Missouri. Tax Sale to be held soon

The office of the Barry County Collector is preparing for the annual Barry County Real Estate Delinquent Tax Sale. Missouri law requires that land with three years of delinquent taxes sell on the fourth Monday of August each year. The first publication of this sale will appear in the Cassville Democrat on the week of July 17, at which time copies will be available at the collector’s office. The tax sale listing can be viewed at, which will be updated as parcels are paid. The Assessor’s Office is preparing books that will contain all parcels that will be up for auction this year.
