Local high school student attends Bear Partnership program

Bear Partnership provides resources to students from underrepresented backgrounds. It’s housed in the College of Education at Missouri State University.

Students who attend the week-long program explore what a career in education looks like. The program also focuses on easing the transition from high school to college.

Throughout the week, students:

• Practiced for the ACT.

• Learned about admissions and financial aid.

• Explored job opportunities, clubs and organizations on campus.

• Immersed themselves in the Springfield community.

Addyson Brophy, of Cassville, is a senior at Cassville High School. Brophy attended the program June 9-14 at Missouri State. She is the daughter of Melissa Brophy, of Purdy, and Scott Brophy, of Cassville.

Elizabeth Ray, of Cassville, is a sophomore at Cassville High School. Ray also attended the program June 9-14 at Missouri State. She is the daughter of Curtis Ray and Barbie Ray.

Sam Sparkman, of Cassville, is a student at Cassville High School. Sparkman attended the program June 9-14 at Missouri State. She is the daughter of Gamon and Shelley Sparkman.

Southwest Baptist releases honor roll

SBU also has released the Spring 2019 honor roll lists for undergraduate students. Students from Barry County on the list include: Jordan Campbell, Cassville, President’s List; Ashley Dunivant, Cassville, Brooklyn Hunter, Cassville, Joshua Bowling, Exeter, Austin Wilson, Exeter, Freddy Ramirez, Monett, Ashton Young, Monett, and Melanie Zengotita, Monett, Honor’s List; and Joel Ridenour, Monett, Trustee’s List. Monett’s Garrett Sutton and Tyler Webb also graduated from SBU with Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees.

Area student earns spot on Spring 2019 Semester Dean’s List at UCM 

Audrie Jean Louise Thorpe, of Cassville, has earned a spot on the University of Central Missouri Dean's List, attaining a grade point average of 3.50 to 3.99.
