Cassville starts season Sept. 3

Some teams run away from competition in an attempt to pad the win column, but others embrace adversity and want to find out how they measure up against the best.

The Cassville soccer team squarely finds itself in the latter category, which is confirmed with the release of the 2019 soccer schedule.

The Wildcats slate features eight home games, and they will play four defending district champions and the third place team from Class 2 last season.

Cassville opens the season officially on Sept. 3 with the Cassville Tournament, followed by home games with Laquey on Sept. 9 and Thomas Jefferson on Sept. 10.

The New Covenant Academy Tournament then awaits on Sept. 12-14.

A home match with Marshfield on Sept. 16 and turnaround road trip to Fair Grove the next night (Sept. 17) precede a Sept. 19 contest at Central in Springfield.

Three more games complete a busy month for the Wildcats with a home contest with College Heights on Sept. 24, a one-day Greenwood Tourney on Sept. 28 and a road trip back to College Heights on Sept. 30.

October brings a flurry of Big 8 Conference play with a home game with Logan-Rogersville on the first day of the month.

On Oct. 7, the team travels to Aurora with a turnaround home game with McDonald County on Oct. 8.

Oct. 14 and 15 see the boys in black board the bus and head to Monett and Greenwood, respectively. The week of games concludes with a home meet with Springfield Catholic on Oct. 17.

Oct. 21 and 22 present two more road challenges with Hillcrest, followed by New Covenant, and then the final home game of the regular season hits on Oct. 24 with Webb City.

District play is set to begin on Oct. 29. A location and pod of teams has not yet been released.
