Public comment to be accepted on trout permit, tag price increase

Wednesday, June 5, 2019

The Conservation Commission gave initial approval to increase the price of nonresident fishing permits, daily trout tags, and trout permits during the May meeting.

The Department will post the proposed changes for public comment July 2-31 (July 16 to Aug. 14 for landowner registry rules 7.434 and 7.455) at http://short.mdc.mo.gov/Z49. The Commission will consider input received and make a final decision to move forward, modify, or withdraw the changes during its Aug. 23 meeting.

If approved, the anticipated effective date of the changes would be Feb. 29, 2020.

The proposal would increase the price of nonresident fishing permits from $42 to $49; daily trout tags up $1 to $4 for adults and $3 or children; and trout permits from $7 to $10.

“As the Missouri Department of Conservation prepares to move into the public comment period for these proposed changes, we would like to invite our partners to join us for an informational meeting to discuss these changes and address any questions you may have,” said Paul Spurgeon, Roaring River Hatchery manager. “The meeting will be held during the regular Roaring River State Park informational meeting at the Emory Melton Inn and Conference Center at Roaring River on June 19 at 6 p.m. Please let me know if you plan on attending.”
