Man survives after car flips into floodwater

Saturday, May 4, 2019
In McDowell on Tuesday evening, a man pulled into the flood waters on the Flatcreek low-water bridge. It was his second crossing that day at a time when he thought water was low enough to cross. After dark, he pulled into flash waters, which swept his car off the bridge, overturning as the deadly water pushed its force against it. The man was able to swim to shore unhurt. The Highway Patrol, a Missouri Department of Conservation agent and Purdy Fire Departmentís search and rescue along wit Brice towing worked together to remove the vehicle before the next round of flash floods.
