Shell Knob VFW hosting Veterans Breakfast and Outreach
On Saturday, and the 2nd Saturday of nearly every month, the VFW Memorial Post 2203 on Hwy 39 North of Shell Knob hosts a veterans’ breakfast.
Any veteran of the U.S. armed services, regardless of location served, is invited to meet at the Post between the hours of 8-10 a.m. Saturday for a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, coffee and juice; all at no cost.
The VFW is also looking reach out in particular to all veterans who’ve served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam conflict, as they may have experienced ambivalence at best and extreme rejection from fellow countrymen at worst after coming home from war.
Any such a veteran, after having served the country honorably, deserves not scorn, but rather the thanks of a grateful nation for patriotism and for carrying out the duties expected during that awful war.
At the Shell Knob VFW Memorial Post 2203, veterans’ experiences are greatly appreciated, and veterans are encouraged to be a part of the Post to any degree they feel comfortable. Veterans may come enjoy the veterans' breakfast and talk to any post member about joining, or contact the Post Commander, David Atkinson, at 417-858-0171.
The VFW Memorial Post 2203 was chartered in 1987 based on the concept of Veterans Helping Veterans.
