Ruby Carlitta Spragins
Ruby Carlitta Spragins, 92, of Washburn, passed away March 27, 2019. She was born June 17, 1926, in Neosho, daughter of James Ollie and Sally Josephine (Severs) Brock. On March 31, 1943, in Neosho, she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Spragins who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; 10 brothers; five sisters; and one grandson.
Survivors include: two sons, Galen Ken Spragins and his wife Ann of Grove, Okla., Billy Joe Spragins of Wyandotte, Okla.; one daughter, Laura Sue Larson and her husband Ed of Washburn; 3 granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and one great-great granddaughter.
She lived most of her life farming the family farm where they grew tomatoes, strawberries and minnows commercially. They were dairy and beef cattle farmers.
When the family moved to Jay, Okla., in 1962, she began her career in nursing. She worked at Jay Memorial Hospital and took classes to obtain her LPN degree. She worked 20 years as a surgical technician at Oak Hill Hospital, Joplin, retiring in 1994 with 35 years in the medical field.
She attended First Baptist Church, Cassville.
Services were held Saturday, April 6, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor James Weaver conducted the services. Burial was at Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery in Seneca.
