Cassville track sets 11 personal bests in season opener

With eight returners from last year’s team, experience was going to a strong suit for the Cassville girls track team.

Of those eight, six qualified for state, with one earning All-State honors in Kyren Postlewait, who finished fifth in the shot put.

Kennedy Parnell, 100-meter hurdles; Jordyn Stafford, 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter; and Chole Parsons, Kyren Postlewait, Hannah Hackler and Parker Marple, 4X200-meter relay all went to state last year.

“We will again have a young team, but return a core of experienced runners and throwers,” said Tom Hubbard, Cassville coach. “We don’t have any seniors on this year’s team. We are looking forward to seeing our growth over the season and building on last year’s success. Our girls have set high expectations for themselves this year.”

On Thursday, Cassville displayed why those expectations are so high in the form of a second-place team finish at the McDonald County meet. The Lady Wildcats accumulated 131 points, and 14 of the 16 entrants recorded a top-8 finish.
