Jenkins bridge meeting on Tuesday
Group looks to obtain 501c3 status, make repairs for pedestrian bridge
Anyone interested in the preservation of Jenkins Bridge is welcome to attend a meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Jenkins Fire Station No. 1, located on Highway 248 near Jenkins.
This will be the organizational meeting with officers and board members being nominated. Anyone who would like to be nominated but cannot attend should contact Dawna Skaggs at 417-574-6924. Voting will be at the next meeting on April 4.
The first fundraiser has been set up as a concert by Homestead Pickers of Silver Dollar City. It will be hosted by the Wheelerville Community Church and Pastor Trent Huse on March 23 at 7 p m. The church is located at the Junction of Highways 248 and D, east of Jenkins. Admission is by donation.
The first meeting of this group was held March 5, with approximately 25 present. Speakers included Tracie Snodgrass, Dawna Skaggs, Gene Swadley, and Kayla Bayse.
Discussion included the steps to becoming a 501c3 organization, working with the Historic Bridge Society and repairs needed to be a pedestrian bridge.
