2nd notice postcards being mailed

Wednesday, February 27, 2019

Barry County Assessor Sherry L. Smith would like to remind taxpayers that the second notice reminder postcards, for the 2019 Personal Property and Business Assessment Lists, are scheduled to be mailed out next week.

Assessment Lists, which taxpayers received in January, are due by March 1. However, there is still a window of opportunity through March to turn it in without receiving a late assessment penalty.

Due to mailing and timing issues, if a person has mailed an assessment list, or is planning to mail it after March 16, said person will probably still be receiving a 2nd notice post card.

In the event this happens, please call the office to verify if the office has definitely received the assessment list.†

New this year to taxpayers, Smith is now offering an online filing option. For online filing, residents will simply need to visit: barrycountyassessor.com and enter a 22-digit online filing pin number, which is located in the upper right hand corner of the assessment list. †

Anyone who didn't receive an assessment list in January, or who has received a second notice reminder postcard from the Assessorís Office, should contact the office immediately at 417-847-2613 to be properly assessed before the final late assessment penalty deadline.

New County residents not receiving a form, may also call the Assessorís Office to request one, or drop by the office for help filling one out. Anyone with questions may call the office Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
