Barry and Lawrence County retired teachers participate in Legislative Day

Wednesday, February 27, 2019
Local education retirees were represented in Jefferson City Feb. 12 by Missouri Retired Teachers Association members Mary Mael, Carlene Garner, Vicki Orr, Shirley Andrus, Ruby Vincent, Sunni Wilson, and Jane Baker. MRTA members heard Gov. Mike Parson, Auditor Nicole Galloway, and Representative Patricia Pike speak about their support of Missouri education and retirees. Following the assembly, members visited with State Sen. David Sater, R-Cassville, in his office. They also visited the offices of State Rep. Mike Moon, R-Ash Grove, and State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick. Of utmost importance to the group was a bill introduced (HB 864, Taylor, Rep Dist. 139) to change the retirement policy of retirees which is strongly opposed by MRTA. Contributed photo
