Exeter hits the hoops road

District tournament for area teams released

For area teams, the season has been reduced to a series of win-and-advance games.

That is the case for Exeter as it prepares for the Class 1, District 5 tournament

On the boys’ side, the Tigers will have their work cut out for them.

Golden City is the No. 1 seed, with Lockwood the No. 2. Everton gained the No. 3 slot, and Dadeville the No. 4. McAuley is the No. 5; followed by Sheldon, No. 6; Exeter, No. 7; and Bronaugh, No. 8.

Boys action begins on Tuesday with Golden City and Bronaugh battling at 6 p.m., and Dadeville and McAuley at 7:30 p.m.

At the same time, Lockwood and Exeter will play at 6 p.m., with Everton at Sheldon contesting at 7:30 p.m.

The Golden City-Bronaugh and Dadeville-McAuley victors will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The Lockwood-Exeter and Everton-Sheldon winners play at 7:30 p.m.

The championship is set for 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 23.

On the girls’ side, McAuley claimed the top seed, with Lockwood the No. 2.

Exeter slid into the No. 3 seed, with Bronaugh the No. 4. Dadeville is the No. 5; with Golden City, No. 6; Sheldon, No. 7; and Everton, No. 8.

McAuley and Everton battle at 6 p.m on Monday, followed by Bronaugh and Dadeville. The winners of those two games meet on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Lockwood and Sheldon also play at 6 p.m. Monday, with Exeter and Golden City immediately following. Those victors play at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Championship game is set for Feb. 23 at 6 p.m.

All games will be played at Nevada High School.
